Make description

The Triumph Motor Company (1885-1984) was a British car and motor manufacturing company. The marque had its origins in 1885 when Siegfried Bettmann of Nuremberg in Germany formed S. Bettmann & Company and started importing bicycles from Europe and selling them under his own trade name in London. Siegfried Bettmann (1863-1951) was a bicycle, motorcycle and car manufacturer and initiator of the Triumph Motorcycle Company. The trade name became "Triumph" in 1886, and in 1887 Bettmann was joined by a partner, Moritz (Maurice) Schulte, also from Germany. In 1889 Bettmann and Schulte started producing their own bicycles in Coventry, England. The Triumph marque (trade-name) is owned currently by BMW.
