Company Morris Motors Ltd. (1919-1984) was a British motor vehicle manufacturer formed in 1919 to take over the assets of W.R.M. Motors Ltd. (founded 1912), which had been put into voluntary liquidation. Company W.R.M. Motors Ltd was founded in 1912 when bicycle manufacturer William Morris moved on from the sale, hire, and repair of cars to car manufacturing. He planned to produce a new light car assembled from bought components. In this way he was able to retain ownership by keeping within the bounds of his own capital resources. William Richard Morris (1877-1963), known as Sir William Morris, was a British motor manufacturer and philanthropist. He was the founder of Morris Motors Company Ltd. and in 1924, founder of company MG.
