Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello. Company is founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles in 1947. Fiat acquired 50% of Ferrari in 1969 and expanded its stake to 90% in 1988. Enzo Anselmo Ferrari (1898-1988) was an Italian automobile racing driver and entrepreneur, the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix automobile racing team, and subsequently founder of the Ferrari automobile marque. He was widely known as "il Commendatore" or "il Drake". In his final years he was often referred to as "l'Ingegnere" or "il Grande Vecchio (the Great Old Man)". FIAT (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino) is an Italian automaker which produces Fiat branded cars, and is part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles through its subsidiary FCA Italy S.p.A., the largest automobile manufacturer in Italy. The company, Fiatorino Automobiles S.p.A., was formed in 2007 when Fiat reorganized its automobile business, and traces its history back to 1899 when the first Fiat automobile was produced.
